   The US embargo is not the reason for the survival of these cars. Nearly all private property was eventually confiscated in Cuba, but anyone who owned a car as of Jan. 1, 1959 was allowed to keep it, or pass it to a close family member. Since the average person had virtually no chance to ever get a new car, the old ones (mostly American) have been kept running in any way possible. Anyone who owns one is very fortunate.

   US economic blockade of Cuba is SO chickenshit, besides being vindictive & counterproductive. Big superpower USA with its multi-trillion-dollar military has SO much to fear from puny Cuba — What a farce! US ‘leaders’ are so foolish they can’t help but heaping dishonour on their nation.
